ANDEVINE RESERVE 2017 HUNTER VALLEY SEMILLON
A touch of smokiness and sulphur, lime and lemongrass, almost water-coloured, such is the subtlety, with pure minerally acidity, a light chalky texture, long clean length, with a dusting of spice in both texture and flavour to close. Beautiful. Finesse and precision.
Gary Walsh - The Wine Front
The Travena is located in the famed ancient creek beds of Hermitage road. These vines were planted in 1920 on own roots and are dry grown.
Hand harvested, and whole bunch pressed direct to tank. Cold settled for five days then racked crystal clear for a cool, slow fermentation. Prepared for bottling directly after ferment. As picking decisions made on acidity and flavour levels no acid additions were necessary.
Very pale straw with green hints.
Lime and citrus notes with honeydew complexity.
Citrus driven on the palate with complex notes of honeydew and fresh cut hay, wrapped in mouth wateringly persistent acidity.
Monitor in cellar through to 2037 and beyond.
